How Atom works
From the first task to the final invoice.
How a project moves through Atom, and what each person sees along the way. Everything here is in the product today.

The workflow, step by step
Your organization, set up once
Before anyone signs in, your organization is shaped around how you actually work: the teams you have, the roles people hold, your working days and hours, your holidays and your leave types. Everything after this follows those rules.
- Working day as two sessions with a break
- Holidays and weekly days off
- Leave types that allow full, half or hourly leave
- Custom roles with specific permissions
A project for every piece of work
A project has an owning team, a priority, a start date and a deadline. Its status is never typed in by hand. It's active, overdue, completed or closed based on what's actually happened.
- Owned by a team, or open to the whole organization
- Files, links and references attached and pinned
- A visual moodboard for drawings and references
Tasks with one owner and one deadline
Break the project into tasks on a board or a list. Each task has one assignee and one deadline, and moves from assigned to in progress, in review and completed. When a deadline passes, the task is marked overdue and its assignee and creator are notified.
- Board and list views with filters
- Bulk reassign and bulk status changes
- Overdue worked out from the deadline, never forgotten
The conversation stays with the work
Every project and task has its own chat thread. Mention a colleague, quote an earlier message, attach a file. Updates arrive live, and the thread is right there the next time someone opens the task.
- Mentions only reach people who can see the work
- Live notifications in the app and push on mobile
- An activity feed of what moved and who moved it
“We break communication problems down to their smallest solvable unit.” A task, and the conversation about it, in one place.
Review before it's done
When the work is ready, the assignee submits it for review with a note and a file. The reviewer approves it, or requests changes and says what's needed. The task always shows whose move it is.
- Submission notes and attachments
- Changes requested with a reason
- “Waiting on” shown on every task
Time off that adds up
People request leave for full days, half days or hours. Atom works out what it costs in working days, skipping holidays and days off. Approving it updates balances and attendance, and reversing an approval undoes both.
- A morning digest for approvers on working days
- Daily check-in and check-out
- A team availability grid against working hours
Invoice from the same place
When the work is delivered, bill it. Issue GST invoices in more than one currency, record payments and expenses, schedule recurring invoices, and export reports your accountant can use.
- Draft, issued, sent, paid, overdue, refunded
- Clients and vendors with a dashboard per client
- P&L, revenue, expenses, tax and cash flow reports
Every module
Everything in one workspace.
Your plan decides which modules your workspace has. Your roles decide what each person sees. Plan, collaborate, manage and measure, then run people, pay and hiring from the same place.

The whole workspace, in your pocket.
Native apps for iOS and Android, using the same workspace as the web, not a cut-down companion. Tasks, projects, chat, leave, calendar, files, notes, finance and attendance check-in.
Signing in to the web app at a shared desk? Approve it from your phone with a short code that expires in minutes, with no password typed on someone else's keyboard.
Good to know
What Atom doesn't do, so you can decide quickly.
No integrations yet
Atom doesn't sync with other chat, task or accounting tools. It's built to replace them.
No self-serve sign-up
Every workspace is set up by our team, with your structure in place before your team signs in.
Clients aren't members
A client never joins your workspace. With Finance, you can open a client portal that shows them only their own invoices, payments and linked projects.
AI is an add-on
ATOM AI isn't part of a standard plan. We switch it on for your workspace, and it runs on AI credits.
See it with your own projects.
Tell us how your team works today, and we'll set up a workspace around your teams, roles and working week.
